Training and not Trying

You do not try to run a marathon, you train to run it, and otherwise you end up exhausted and defeated. The kind of training we’re talking about isn’t teeth-gritting, white-knuckle, do-or-die attitude towards things like prayer and Bible reading. No it’s training yourself to be more sensitive to God. It’s learning to do the right thing, in the right way and with the right spirit. Your goal may be to read several chapters of the Bible each day but what if God tells you to linger at a certain scripture because He want to make that particular truth a reality in your daily life?

The difference between trying and training is like the difference between a motorboat and a sailing boat; you can turn one on and drive it away but with the other you have to wait for the wind. Jesus said,
“The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8 NIV) It’s the wind that does the work. We can’t turn it on or off. We can’t engineer it to take credit for it. But like good sailor we can train ourselves to ‘read’ it and respond to it. Once we learn to do that, we’re walking in the Spirit instead of straining in the flesh

KEYS FOR SURVIVING YEAR 2011

There are two (2) major keys for surviving this year:
1. Learn to talk to everything: You must understand that everything has ears: This year form the habit of talking to everything. Jesus spoke to trees, mountains, demons and to water. Talk to everything. For example, If it is a headache, talk to it.

2. Command the Morning: You must learn and begin to practise how to Command the Morning, how to command your day. To help you with this, get a copy of the book, “Command The Morning” Job 38:12.

Foursquare church installs new G.O

Reverend Felix Meduoye was at the weekend installed as the 4th elected General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria.

The new general overseer promised to lead the church to a glorious destination. The installation ceremony was attended by great ministers of God from within and without the country. It also coincided with the grand finale of the 55th annual convention of the church with theme, “In His light.”

In his acceptance speech, Rev Meduoye said his vision was to build a glorious church that would remain focused as an evangelical mission.

He said that church under the new leadership will continue to remain neutral on issues of national and global politics. Nevertheless, we would not discourage our members who choose to engage in political activities but we would plead that such decision remains a personal affair and the church should not be dragged into partisan politics.

He pointed out that the new leadership of the church would be conscious of its role in nation building, integration and peaceful co-existence with no religious colouration and antagonism.

He said: “Like Isaiah of old, I have a vision for a glorious church, a vision for the people who are ready to serve god.”

The Experience

The Experience is an Interdenominational Gospel concert that features some of the best-known musical talents of our time. The Event, which debuted in December 2006 with over 70,000 persons in attendance rapidly gained momentum at its second outing with a quantum leap in attendance of well over 250,000 people! The Experience has come to find a home at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos. The venue, constructed in 1972, in honour of the first Prime Minister of Nigeria is located in the heart of Lagos Island, Nigeria's commercial nerve centre. The TBS was designed to provide hire facilities for a number of gatherings. It has two pavilions on 4 floors enclosing an open arena of 36,000 squares meters. This location has hosted major functions like Independence Day celebrations. Following the unprecedented attendance last year, the organizers have opened up the other wing of the gallery seating. Also, additional bleacher style seating will be constructed on the side bordering the Cricket pitch (facing the former National Assembly building) to allow more participants in this year.

Uniquely the Event runs through the night starting at 7.00pm and running till 6am the following morning a colossal 11 hrs of uninterrupted prayer and live music! The Experience concert is scheduled to start at 8pm on Friday, the 3th of December and run till the early hours of Saturday morning.
